FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio says he ‘would not be surprised’ to see Italy CT Antonio Conte stay until the 2018 World Cup.
The former Juventus Coach took over last summer, and has been the subject of resignation rumours almost ever since, but the Federation chief believes he will stay for the long-term.
“Conte deserves a top rating for the job he’s done as CT,” Tavecchio told Sky.

“He changed the team’s approach, we’re very pleased and we’re still undefeated. He’s a decent man, who is dedicated to sacrifice and clarity.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see him here for the World Cup. It’s not true that he offered his resignation after the controversy surrounding the [Claudio] Marchisio injury.
“There was a storm in a teacup in Sofia.”
