Lazio defender and former Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares says that his personal success is down to the performances of his teammates, despite the fact that he registered his fourth assist in as many matches during the Biancocelesti’s 3-2 win over Torino on Sunday.

The Portuguese became the first Serie A player in over 20 years to register four assists from his first four appearances in the division.

He grabbed another after just eight minutes on Sunday, cutting back from the byline for his former Arsenal teammate Matteo Guendouzi, who was able to convert from just inside the penalty area.

Nuno Tavares: ‘Because of my teammates that I’m doing so well’

Tavares insists that he would not be able to perform as well as he currently is without the help of his new colleagues.

“The three points were so important today,” Nuno Tavares said after full-time. “I have to thank my teammates. If I’m doing well, it’s because of them that I’m in a position to do so well.”

Lazio’s victory over Torino puts them up to sixth place in the Serie A table, with three wins, one draw and two losses from their opening six matches.
