Suso arrived in January from Liverpool, but this will be his first start for the club.
“He had time to settle in and gradually played some minutes in recent games. It seemed an opportune choice,” Tassotti told Sky Sport Italia.
“He’s a very good player and might not have 90 minutes in his legs right now, but he is an important player for us.”
Alex is another addition to the starting XI, replacing Gabriel Paletta in defence.
“Alex showed in training that he’s in very good shape. He was important for many years at big clubs and we consider him a first choice. He hasn’t been playing as often recently due to physical problems.
“We continue to concede a few too many goals and we’d like to keep a clean sheet.”
Pippo Inzaghi’s right-hand man was also asked about Chelsea loaner Marco van Ginkel.
“We expect him to improve further. He had a big injury worry to his knee that kept going for a long time. We think he has quality and in recent outings he’s done well.”
President Silvio Berlusconi said the winning team will see the light, whereas the losers will be plunged into a crisis.
“Of course the side that wins tonight will need to add some more good results, but it could be a good launch pad.”
