Mehdi Taremi refuses to answer a question on a possible Inter transfer and insists he is ‘focused’ on Iran’s national team at the Asian Cup, but multiple sources claim an agreement with the Nerazzurri is close.

Taremi’s contract with Porto expires at the end of the season and several Italian sources report the experienced striker will likely join Inter on a free transfer next summer.

Taremi is currently on Asian Cup international duty with Iran national team and was asked at a press conference on Thursday if he had already signed with the Serie A giants.

“Right now, we are in Qatar with the National team and I think the National team is more important than anything else,” the 31-year-old replied, as quoted by FcInter1908.it.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports an agreement between Inter and Taremi is already in place although the two parties are still finalising the final details on the player’s contract.

Taremi is expected to sign a two-year contract at the Stadio Meazza joining the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in July 2024.
