New Inter striker Mehdi Taremi is now up to four goals from his first three appearances in Nerazzurri colours after tucking away a penalty 11 minutes into a pre-season friendly against LaLiga side Las Palmas on Saturday evening.

Four in three for Taremi at Inter

The 32-year-old converted his spot-kick effortlessly in the opening stages of Inter’s pre-season run-out at the Stadio Manuzzi in Cesena.

The Iran international also struck twice on his debut against Lugano on July 17, before adding another against Serie C outfit Pergolettese five days later.

Taremi joined Inter on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract with Porto at the end of June. He now looks set to battle France international Marcus Thuram for a starting spot alongside captain Lautaro Martinez in the Nerazzurri line-up.

There has been a fair amount of excitement in the Italian press over Taremi’s arrival, as some outlets drew comparisons to former Serie A strikers Edin Dzeko and Miroslav Klose, both of whom have worked under Simone Inzaghi previously.
