Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has confessed that he rejected Milan over the summer. “I chose with my heart, not money.”
Tare was Milan’s first choice to replace Leonardo, but the Albanian ended up sticking with Lazio and the Rossoneri went for ex-Roma executive Ricky Massara.
“I’m in a hurry to reach the Champions League,” he told Corriere dello Sport.
“The group knows that in the last three years, we could’ve easily qualified.

“Boban was my idol, Maldini was an exemplary player and also is as a director.
“I saw their act of love firsthand, but my decision came from the heart. Leaving would’ve been wrong. I chose with my heart, not money.
“When I go abroad, I realise Lazio is an important name. Before I leave, I’ll take time to think it over. I know I’ve built something beautiful with the club, technical staff and players.”
The 46-year-old then revealed how close Yusuf Yazici was to replacing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the Aquile’s ranks.
“If he’d left, Yazici had the right characteristics to replace him. But there was also another name.
“Now he’ll extend his contract by one year but while always keeping the right balance.”
