Lazio director Igli Tare assures the Serbian and Albanian internationals won’t be affected by their ugly brawl.

The Serbia-Albania match for the Euro 2016 qualifiers was abandoned after 42 minutes last night when someone flew a drone with a Kosovar flag over the stadium, sparking riots on and off the pitch.

“There will be no repercussions in the Lazio locker room after Serbia-Albania,” insisted Tare, who is a former Albania international himself and was also present at the game.

In the stadium there were Biancocelesti teammates Filip Djordjevic, Lorik Cana and Etrit Berisha.

“The players have an excellent rapport between themselves. They are good people and there will be no problem.

“I’m just disappointed that sport did not win. It was a very passionately-felt game and should’ve united the two countries. Instead everything else happened.

“Control was the only thing missing at that moment. The tension was sky high for 15 minutes and it became clear the situation was not easy to deal with.

“The lads behaved with dignity to defend our flag. I had hoped that in 2014 a game like this could be played.

“All this happened because the Serbian and Albanian media raised the pressure in the build-up with pointless articles.

“The Albanian team hotel was surrounded by armour-plated military vehicles and for someone about to play a match it’s not easy to walk down the corridor past all that military equipment.”
