Lazio director Igli Tare warns ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will this team’ under Maurizio Sarri, but reiterates there’s a ‘psychological block’ within the squad.
The Derby della Capitale kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).
“This is a huge match and it’s fundamental we rediscover the self-confidence that we lost after the defeat to Milan,” the director of sport told DAZN.
“I saw some steps forward and the best way to remove that psychological block is to win the derby.”
There are very few signs of Sarrismo, or Sarriball, in the current Biancocelesti performances.
“Rome wasn’t built in a today and neither will this Lazio team. We worked for five years in a certain way, we changed a great deal, but the psychological block is because everyone is worried about making the right movements and then get anxious,” continued Tare.
“We will see Sarrismo of a sort over time, maybe a different type to the one people tend to recognise. We have not talked about how long this will take, but Sarri has all our confidence, as the team has not expressed in a match situation what it does in training.
“Winning helps to win, this is a big opportunity to relaunch our fortunes.”
