Lazio sporting director Igli Tare says Keita Balde Diao has signed a contract extension and still expects Stefan De Vrij to join the club.

The young forward moved to the Biancocelesti in 2011 from Barcelona but has been linked with a transfer away from Stadio Olimpico this summer.

However, speaking at a Press conference today the Albanian official confirmed the player has extended his stay in Rome and also revealed the club’s other recent renewals.

“The first renewal was the renewal of Keita until 2018, an additional year therefore,” Tare told the media.

“It’s the same for Tounkara until 2018, while Filippini, Lombardi and Strakosha have signed until 2019.”

Tare then discussed the presence of seven Lazio players at this summer’s World Cup, as well as their long-standing target De Vrij.

“I am proud, we have seven players at the tournament and we have Klose who is now in football history.

“The market is open until September, we know where we need to work. It’s not just the financial aspect that will determine things but also the will of the players.

“A lot has been said, it’s been said that Manchester United have already finalised a deal [for De Vrij] but that isn’t true. His agent has been clear, he’s said that nothing is true and that the will of the player is to play for Lazio.”
