Lazio director Igli Tare insists reports Vedat Muriqi is close to joining CSKA Moscow are ‘not true,’ but Maurizio Sarri will agree a new extended contract.

The Aquile play Udinese in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 and the winners will face Milan in the quarter-final next month.

Before kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico, Tare spoke to Sport Mediaset and was asked about the on-going rumours striker Muriqi is on the verge of a move to CSKA Moscow.

“No, it’s not true,” was the response. “This sort of thing is bad for journalists and those who support Lazio. People cannot be taken for a ride. We know what we have to do, we make decisions along with the coach and those who spread this disinformation are not being fair.”

Kosovo international centre-forward Muriqi has also been linked with Leeds United and Hull City.

Sarri said he could not get reinforcements in the January transfer window until someone else had been sold first, freeing up funds for the liquidity index.

“There are some problems with the economic liquidity index that need to be resolved. When we do that, then we can help the team and Sarri by doing as much as is possible,” confirmed Tare.

The director of sport was also asked if Sarri was close, medium or far from agreeing a new extended contract with Lazio?

“Close, he has never been far.”

  1. Ohhhh I was in a real shock that Serie A might miss the might of Muriqi … get serious with your articles FI or change your name to Calcio Comedy.

  2. Lotito is the biggest fool if he sells Muriqi, he is a great back up to Ciro, he just need to learn Sarris way of playing ball, he will even compete with Ciro in the lineup
