Lazio director of sport Igli Tare announced that Sevilla transfer target Luis Alberto ‘will be staying here this season.’
The midfielder is on the bench for this evening’s Serie A opener against Bologna, which kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 17.30 UK time (16.30 GMT).
Negotiations had stalled with Sevilla over the last few days and Tare has now confirmed they are terminated.
“Luis Alberto will not leave here for the rest of the transfer window,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.
“Luis Alberto will play this season with Lazio.”
Tare also assured that coach Maurizio Sarri “is satisfied with the transfer market” strategy and does not require any more signings.
“I see a team that is hungry and when I past I saw that, we had impressive seasons. We must only look at ourselves and follow our objectives.”
