Lazio’s new Coach will be announced “by the end of next week” confirms sporting director Igli Tare.
The Biancocelesti met with Jorge Sampaoli, while caretaker Simone Inzaghi is still hoping to be given the job on a permanent basis.
“The most important thing after [Stefano] Pioli’s departure was clarity with Simone Inzaghi,” Tare told Lazio Style Radio.

“The most important thing after [Stefano] Pioli’s departure was clarity with Simone Inzaghi,” Tare told Lazio Style Radio.
“We were clear, we were giving him an important opportunity to show his qualities at a difficult time.
“Many people were surprised by the way he was able to manage the squad, but choosing him was based on that.
“We put our trust in a capable person, but we were always clear that we’d make our assessments at the end of the season.
“He’s shown himself to be worthy of such an environment, and that makes us happy.
“There’s been a lot of talk about meeting Sampaoli, we wanted to get to know him, and understand if his philosophy would be compatible with Lazio. Nothing more.
“Inzaghi had been told about it. I think it’ll be clear by the end of next week who Lazio’s Coach of choice is.”
