Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has defended striker Ciro Immobile after Torino President Urbano Cairo commented his Instagram post.

It was tense on the pitch during the 0-0 draw that secured safety for Torino, but the conflict continues also after the final whistle at the Olimpico.

Immobile accused the Granata President of insulting him outside the dressing room, and Cairo responded by explaining why he has a problem with the Biancocelesti forward.

Tare has now decided to get involved in the public spat and defends the striker in a statement.

“Ciro is not just Lazio’s attacker,” Tare told Adnkronos. “He arrived on tiptoe, in silence.

“Today, for him, the 150 goals he has scored with our shirt speak for him.

“He’s ‘King Ciro’ for his people, for us who work together every day. Ciro is a humble King, who works by example, a man who sacrifices himself and who loves our club, his teammates, his fans and his splendid family.

“For the club, it’s a source of pride to have him in the dressing room, a real man who has become a point of reference in the Biancocelesti family and a symbol for the people of Lazio, giving body and soul to our shirt, embodying, on and off the pitch, the value of respect, loyalty and professionalism.”
