Marco Tardelli “would like to become Italy CT” if Antonio Conte leaves after Euro 2016.

The former midfielder won the World Cup with the Azzurri in 1982, and also guided the Under-21 side to a European Championship win in 2000.

However, spells at Inter, Bari, Arezzo and the Egyptian national team were less successful, and his last role was as Giovanni Trapattoni’s assistant for the Republic of Ireland.

“I don’t want to Coach a small team, I’m aiming for a big team,” Tardelli told Radio Due.

“I would like to become [Italy] CT if Antionio Conte leaves. I don’t know if he’ll leave after the Euros.

“He seems angry about aspects of the job, and there's a chance that if he leaves it'll be for the best for him.”
