Marco Tardelli calls Juventus forwards Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala “a perfect partnership”.

The Bianconeri have signed last season’s Serie A top-scorer from Napoli, and he’s expected to partner last season’s revelation, Dybala, in the coming campaign.

“What does Higuain bring to Juve?” Tardelli considered in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Goals. Lots of goals. But look out, Higuain is not [Mario] Mandzukic. Mandzukic has been a key man, he’s the first to press. He attacks everyone, which allows the team to win position on the pitch.

“Higuain is a different striker, he’s the last attacker. We’re talking about a champion though, one who allows you to aim for the Champions League.

“Higuain-Dybala? A perfect partnership. Many liken them to [David] Trezeguet-[Alex] Del Piero, but I disagree. They’re four great strikers, but different from each other.

“Higuain and Dybala are perfect on paper because, in addition to sticking the ball in the net, Pipita is good at providing assists with his South American feet.

“Plus they’re both from Argentina.”

Paul Pogba is expected to leave for Manchester United, but Tardelli doesn’t think that will be a hammer-blow for the Old Lady.

“They’d be losing a great player, but earning a lot of money. It’s something they can withstand.

“Should Dybala get his number 10 shirt? He has to wear it. The lad has the right attitude, he has quality and personality in industrial doses. The number 10 shirt belongs to him.

“The sale of Alvaro Morata? He’s been replaced well. No problem.

“As for Marko Pjaca, he has talent but I’ll wait to make a definitive judgement. Some time ago they said Balotelli was a champion and would change football, but Mario hasn't changed anything. Football changed him.”

Gianluigi Buffon has two years remaining in his career, but when he retires the former midfielder believes he must have a role at the club.

“Buffon is one of those who Juve must not run away from when he stops playing. The Bianconeri can’t repeat the mistake they made with Del Piero, or that Milan did with Paolo Maldini.”

Finally, Tardelli was asked about the goals for the upcoming season.

“There is no rival in Serie A for Juventus. In the Champions League though, there’s high profile competition.

“Dani Alves? I find the signing of the Brazilian particularly important. Dani Alves won everything with Barcelona, he’ll help Juve overcome the difficult moments that often occur in the Champions League.”
