Marco Tardelli believes Hernanes ‘can be the right trequartista’ for Juventus after arriving from Inter.

The Brazilian arrived for €11m on transfer deadline day, but drew a mixed reaction from Bianconeri fans, following the summer pursuit of Julian Draxler, Oscar and Mario Gotze.

“Hernanes can be the right trequartista for [Coach Max] Allegri,” Tardelli told Tuttosport.

“If the Brazilian fits in well in his new environment then he could even be the piece that completes the puzzle.

“If Hernanes has split the fans, it’s only because they were expecting Draxler, and when Juventus don’t buy their first choice they’re always criticised.

“The directors renewed the team, they got good players and I’ve give their transfer campaign a seven or an eight out of 10.

“When you make changes, it’s very difficult to immediately establish yourself. It could happen that they don’t win this year, but it will be the basis for future triumphs.

“That said, the two games so far don’t mean much, because there are players out and others like [Paulo] Dybala and [Mario] Mandzukic don’t seem to be in top condition yet.”
