Milan are trying to work on a deal for Roma’s Tammy Abraham but now face a serious threat from Atalanta, who are looking for reinforcements after Gianluca Scamacca’s injury.

The Italian striker suffered a serious knee injury, rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament, in a pre-season friendly on Sunday evening. He underwent an operation and will be out of action for la Dea for at least six months, forcing them to change their plans.

Milan have been keen on a deal for Tammy Abraham for a little while now, wanting to add a striker with different characteristics to Paulo Fonseca’s squad. With a €35m price tag, the current idea is a swap deal involving players like Alexis Saelemaekers, Noah Okafor and Davide Calabria.

Atalanta pose threat for Tammy Abraham

Page 18 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Atalanta are considering entering the race with Milan for Tammy Abraham, aware that the Roma striker could be a good fit for Gian Piero Gasperini’s system in Bergamo.

La Dea were already interested in the Englishman before his move to the Italian capital and could now fight the Rossoneri for his signature. His current €4.5m net per season wages could prove problematic for Atalanta, however, but wouldn’t be an issue for Milan.
