Taiwo, 26, has played in just two Serie A games and three Champions League encounters since his arrival.
Veteran full-back Gianluca Zambrotta and Luca Antonini have featured in more games than the African so far this season.
Maxwell, meanwhile, is a player who has been linked with the Rossoneri since his days at city rivals Inter.
The Brazilian, 30, who joined Barcelona in 2009, could move on after Christmas. His agent is Mino Raiola – a man who has done business with the Diavolo in recent years.
