“It’s not charity, the potential of football in our continent is extraordinary,” La Repubblica quotes Taechaubol as saying.

“It’s not speculation, the name and prestige of the club gives an exclusive head-start. I presented a development project, with a detailed plan for all major cities in Asia.

“I’m convinced of the tremendous value of the brand in a market which can grow. I’m not boasting, the proposal is serious and solid.

“The talks with Berlusconi were serene and pleasant.”
