Rodrigo Taddei thanked Roma Coach Rudi Garcia for renewing his enthusiasm for the sport after his first goal since 2011.
He found the net in today’s 4-2 Serie A rescheduled Week 22 win over Parma and hadn’t scored for the club since December 2011.
“It was a wonderful sensation to score in front of the fans who supported me throughout all these years. It was the height of joy to celebrate along with them,” he told Sky Sport Italia and Roma Channel.
“It was important for me to go there and enjoy it with the fans. I think that at the age of 34 I have nothing left to prove to anyone.
“The Coach was able to know me as a player and as a man, whereas he didn’t know me before. He allowed me to prove to myself that I still want to play and have fun. I was lucky as well today and rewarded with a goal.”
Taddei’s last goal at the Stadio Olimpico was back in 2009, so going back five years.
“It was a long time ago and it was tough to score today. I am particularly happy as my family was in the stadium.
“As soon as the ball went in, I remembered a similar goal I scored against Lazio.”
