Bologna owner Joe Tacopina advised MLB legend Mike Piazza to buy Parma. “It’s a splendid opportunity.”
Parma were declared bankrupt and today the final auction went by without a single formal offer, even though the price-tag had been reduced to €4.5m.
“The opportunity to invest now is splendid when the market value is low,” Tacopina told La Gazzetta di Parma.

“The opportunity to invest now is splendid when the market value is low,” Tacopina told La Gazzetta di Parma.
Tacopina is an American lawyer who had been involved in US investors buying AS Roma, then left to become chairman of Bologna.
“This is the choice that was made with Roma, Inter and Bologna. In the NFL or NBA, for example, you won’t find a similar opportunity.”
Parma need to find a new owner and cover the outstanding sporting debt of around €22m before June 30 to register for the next Serie B season.
Otherwise the Ducali will have to start all over again from Serie D.
There are three expressions of interest, including one from baseball hero Piazza.
Bologna are neighbours to Parma, as they are both cities in the Emilia-Romagna region.
This evening Bologna face Pescara in the promotion play-off final for a place in Serie A next term.
