Wojciech Szczesny insists he’s aiming for the Scudetto, after completing a return to Roma.

The Polish international has once again joined the Giallorossi on loan from Arsenal, and is looking to win the title in his second season in Serie A.

“The only goal I have is the Scudetto,” Szczesny declared in an interview with Roma TV.

“We had a great second half of the last season, but when you play for a big club you always have to aim to win the title.

“I don’t want to think about who the favourites are, we’ve shown we can play at a high level for a long time.

“The Champions League? It’s a competition in which we want to do well against the best teams in Europe. We hope to qualify and do our best.”

Thomas Vermaelen, a former teammate of Szczesny’s has been linked with a move to the Eternal City.

“Vermaelen is a great player, but I haven’t talked to him much since he left Arsenal [for Barcelona]. Having him here would be positive, he’s a great defender.”
