Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny insists he will be able to ignore criticism and regain his focus both at club and international level after some costly errors.

The Poland international saw his two howlers gift Udinese a 2-2 draw in the opening Serie A game of the season, then he was beaten in the 1-0 home defeat to Empoli.

“One of my strengths is that I have always been able to ignore what people say about my performances, positive or negative,” said Szczesny during a press conference.

“More often than not, these two extremes are exaggerated and the reality is somewhere in-between.”

Some Juve fans and critics have called for Szczesny to step aside and be replaced by Mattia Perin in Turin.

“It is important to always look forward and concentrate on the next games. We mustn’t pay attention to the outside world.”

The 31-year-old joined Juve in 2017 for €14m plus bonuses and his current contract runs to June 2024.

  1. I am as a fan would be curious to see Perin performing. Mabye he’s even better, who knows. Coaches preference is not always objective.

  2. mercenary shouldn’t cares as long as the team pays him 7.5 M euro, who cares with critics?
lord szesny also arsenol goalkeeper when they lose 8-2 to MU.
I don’t know why we want to winning UCL with a keeper who can’t stop 8 goals in one match

  3. Madness we lost Donnaruma to keep this guy.

What does he care? He’s laughing all the way to the bank knowing no other club in the world would pay him what Juve is giving him or view him as anything but an average keeper – at best – when Juve keep saying he’s one of the best. Laughs to the bank… every day at Juve is a win for him.

  4. i think critics are being bit harsh. 1 bad game or a blunder doesnt ruin all the great seasons hes had. i personally am not a fan, but he stepped up his game coming to an elite club like Juve and being the successor to Buffon. juve has always top keepers (usually italian) so im surprised they throw Perin to the side, or didnt make efforts to sign Cragno, Sirigu, or Donnarumma.
