Wojciech Szczesny still considers Paul Pogba to be ‘one of the best of the world’ as he nears a return to Juventus.

The French midfielder is leaving Manchester United after six years this month on a free transfer, ending a rather frustrating time in the North West of England. Pogba often failed to shine for the Red Devils, being a shell of the player seen with both Juventus and the French national team.

Speaking to The Sun, Szczesny first discussed the possibility of seeing Pogba return to Juventus this summer.

“I’d be delighted to see that happen. He did brilliantly in his previous time at Juventus so he would be a great addition to the squad.

“He is a player with good calibre and experience and he has good memories from Turin.”

The Polish shot stopper had no doubts about the quality of the Frenchman.

“Oh yeah. Absolutely a top player. Maybe over the last couple of years the consistency of his game and the injuries didn’t help at United. But when he is fit, he is still one of the best in the world.”

He commented on the possibility of seeing a midfield duo of Pogba and Aaron Ramsey, who will return from his loan spell with Rangers.

“I’d take that. If they are both fit. A fit Aaron Ramsey is a very good player. That’s been a big problem for him over the last few years.

“It’s up to Aaron and the club. If he can get himself fit he will be a great addition to our team or any other club in Europe because he is a brilliant football player.”

Finally, Szczesny spoke about Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and their failure to secure a top four finish in the Premier League this season, losing out to rivals Tottenham.

“As a fan it was really disappointing. They gave it a good go and nobody would have said before the season started that they had a chance.

“They were still in it with two games of the season left. It’s disappointing but they have actually done a good job this year.

“I can see Mikel’s idea of football, he has a young team so they will be alright. Another couple of years and they will be back in the Champions League.”
