Wojciech Szczesny’s agent insists “it’s no problem for us” if Gianluigi Buffon signs a new Juventus contract.

The veteran goalkeeper had been expected to retire at the end of the season, and the Bianconeri signed Szczesny to replace him.

However, it has now been suggested that 40-year-old could play on, something which wouldn’t be an issue for the Pole.

“Szczesny loves Juventus and the fans, and he has an extraordinary relationship with Buffon,” Jonathan Barnett assured, speaking to Tuttosport.

“If he renews it’s no problem for us. Juventus did an incredible deal to buy Szczesny at that price [€12.2m plus €3.1m bonuses].

“They were good and quick in understanding his enormous potential before everyone. Wojciech will become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, just you watch."

Barnett’s most famous client is probably Gareth Bale of Real Madrid, and he was asked about the Welsh international’s situation.

“I am reminded of the pen that [President] Florentino Perez, a gentleman like few others, gave me to sign the contracts,” Barnett recalled of Bale’s move to the Bernabeu.

“I still have it, but what matters most is the great relationship I’ve developed with Florentino.

“Today Bale would be worth at least €222m [the same price as Neymar] but Gareth is very happy in Madrid, he loves Real.

“Gareth doesn’t need [Cristiano] Ronaldo to leave, even now he’s one of Real’s stars.

“He’s a role model for kids, he doesn’t drink alcohol, and he’s very attentive to what he eats – he never buys fast food and he goes to bed very early.

“I don’t think Bale is any worse than Neymar, so he can fight for the Ballon d’Or too.

“Could he have joined Juventus? No. The most concrete interest came from another Italian club, but I can’t tell you any more than that. Tottenham said no though.

“Will he ever move to Italy? He’s happy at Real Madrid. In football you can never say never… but I honestly don’t think any Italian club could afford Bale.”
