Roberto Mancini’s assistant Sylvinho assures Inter are ‘working well’, but won’t make predictions before the end of the transfer window.

The former left-back was appointed as assistant to the Coach in December, and is currently working with the team on their pre-season tour of China.

“Myself, [fellow coach Dejan] Stankovic and [vice-President Javier] Zanetti are good friends with Mancini, and that helps us work better,” Sylvinho explained in an interview with Inter Channel.

“Myself, [fellow coach Dejan] Stankovic and [vice-President Javier] Zanetti are good friends with Mancini, and that helps us work better,” Sylvinho explained in an interview with Inter Channel.

“We’ve been working very well, it’s crucial to face strong opposition. The condition is good, we don’t yet know who will come in, but the ones who are here are doing a great job.

“Where will we finish? The team is very good right now, I’ll wait for the last two or three weeks of the transfer market, but I’m sure we can do great things.”

The former Barcelona man then elaborated on his role with the team, and reveals he’s helping Martin Montoya, an arrival from Camp Nou, to settle in.

“He [Montoya] still doesn’t speak Italian, but he understands everything. Now he just has to develop that automatic understanding, and adapt to Italian tactics, but it’s nothing too complicated.

“I often speak with [Geoffrey] Kondogbia, [Andrea] Ranocchia and [Mateo] Kovacic, but my most important job is to talk to those who are playing less, as it’s important they don’t become demoralised.

“In that sense I feel like a big brother.”
