Switzerland fans trolled Italy after the World Cup play-off debacle, having booked their spot in Qatar at the Azzurri’s expense.
Supporters held up the banner during today’s 2-1 friendly defeat to England.

Italy finished runners-up to Switzerland in their World Cup qualifying group thanks to draws home and away, with Jorginho failing to convert a penalty in both matches, including one in stoppages that would’ve secured their ticket to the tournament.
The Nazionale then went into the play-offs and lost 1-0 to North Macedonia in the semi-final.
Good banter. Still raw and hurting but have to take it on the chin. Our own doing v Swiss…or perhaps just one player.

It’s always bizarre to me to see a country that has never won anything and very likely never will “troll” a serial winner like Italy. I mean, congratulations on your Round of 16 exit?
Why would someone google search that? The banner makes no sense. No one would just put their country in front of “World Cup Qatar 2022” and search for that. Not a clever banner

You can get away with that in soccer as there seems to be rampant corruption but try that in any other biz and you would get burnt badly. So best is to shut your yapper. Also I wonder when Swiss will ever win a WC in a 100 years? You’re just a spoiler team
We deserve that. They were the best team in the group that’s why they topped it.

That is quite a good banner – and c’mon it’s just a laugh. Look how much we laughed at England last summer. We revelled in it. As for Switzerland – just hold up four fingers (one for each WC) to them – two fingers in each hand 🙂
