The striker is currently waiting for swelling in the joint to reduce so that an evaluation can be made on the extent of any damage sustained to it from a challenge suffered at the start of this month by Livorno’s Leandro Rinaudo.

Whilst it was anticipated that this would be a two-week wait, Rossi’s agent has indicated that tests could be carried out by next week due to recent progress made by the player.

“After a long telephone conversation that took place yesterday with Luke Bongiorno, the physiotherapist for Pepito, we are evaluating the possibility of a visit of inspection for Rossi by Professor [Richard] Steadman, seeing that the knee has responded better than expected to physiotherapy in recent days and [the swelling] has reduced significantly,” Andrea Pastorello has told Tuttomercatoweb today.

“By Tuesday we will know for certain how to proceed. We have spoken with [sporting director Daniele] Prade and so Fiorentina were informed as soon as I received the phone call.”
