Reports over the weekend surfaced from Spain and then Italy that the 28-year-old forward was in Naples undergoing a medical ahead of signing for Rafa Benitez’s team.

However, Swansea have played down suggestions of his imminent departure, but admit through their chairman that talks with him are due.
“If the reports are right, there seems to be a lot of interest in Michu,” Huw Jenkins has told the South Wales Evening Post on the matter.
“From the club’s point of view, I can tell you that we have not received any enquiries about Michu.
“The only thing I would say is that I am sure [manager] Garry [Monk] will meet with Michu and discuss things with him when he reports back.”
