Hellas Verona have been handed a suspended closure of their Curva Sud for one match, for racist chants aimed at Napoli’s Pablo Armero on Sunday.

The club have been hit with the penalty by sporting authorities for sections of their support being heard during Week 19’s fixture at the Bentegodi racially abusing Armero when in possession.

Whilst a message was read out over the public address system to discourage fans from continuing this behaviour, the club have been hit with a one-game partial stadium closure, for the Curva Sud.

However, this is being treated as a first offence, so the sanction has been suspended for one year with the warning that, if in this period the club are pulled up in front of the authorities again, the suspension will be revoked and the sanction added to that of the new offence.

Meanwhile, suspensions as a result of cards and dismissals picked up in Week 19 have been confirmed.

Cagliari’s Mauricio Pinilla has been given a two-game ban for his red card awarded against Juventus, whilst 11 players have been handed one-game suspensions: Matulazem (Genoa),Gazzola e Zaza (Sassuolo), Da Silva e Allan (Udinese), Benalouane (Atalanta), Ledesma(Lazio), Soriano e Krsticic (Sampdoria).
