After the match he spoke about the Diavolo and expressed his joy for the successful end to the season for both him and his former club.

“Milan finished the campaign very well,” Suso told Sky Sport Italia. “I followed the team because they’re part of my heart.

“I played there for several years.”

The 26-year-old moved on loan with an obligation to buy with conditions in January and triggered the deal by helping his new club reach the Champions League.

“I wanted to come here for my teammates and the coach, I’m happy both for me and for them.”

Suso played 153 games for Milan, contributing 24 goals and 36 assists in the process.
