Inter dominated the Supercoppa Italiana in Riyadh, surging into an early lead with Federico Dimarco and Edin Dzeko before Lautaro Martinez sealed the 3-0 scoreline, as Milan looked badly off form.

This very special Derby della Madonnina was played at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh. The Scudetto holders were still missing Mike Maignan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alessandro Florenzi, Rade Krunic and Fode Ballo-Toure, but Simon Kjaer returned to bolster the defence. The Coppa Italia winners were without Marcelo Brozovic and Samir Handanovic, while Romelu Lukaku was at best fit for a place on the bench. Semi-automatic offside technology was introduced and will be used throughout Serie A from next week.

It took under 10 minutes to break through, as Edin Dzeko with a wonderful first-touch pass sent Nicolò Barella down the right and he rolled across for Federico Dimarco to meet it relatively unmarked at the back post.

Rafael Leao turned on the turbo on a Brahim Diaz through ball, his strike from a tricky angle well palmed over the bar by Andre Onana.

However, Milan were caught napping on a free kick taken quickly to send Dzeko down the left, his cut back at the by-line committed Sandro Tonali and the Bosnian steered a marvellous angled drive across Ciprian Tatarusanu into the far bottom corner.

Tatarusanu kept the scoreline down with a save from a chaotic corner and then had his gloves stung by Dimarco’s rocket, while Fikayo Tomori made a desperate tackle on Matteo Darmian as a loose ball pinged around.

Milan had more of the ball towards half-time, but without getting any dangerous attempts on target, and after the restart saw Rafael Leao blast just over the bar from a promising team move.

Kjaer prevented Lautaro Martinez from turning to get the shot away, but Ismael Bennacer fired straight at Onana and Alessandro Bastoni made a crucial interception with Olivier Giroud ready to nod in Leao’s cross.

Theo Hernandez had a rocket of a touched-on free kick charged down by Dzeko and Leao again blasted straight at the goalkeeper, as Milan didn’t turn their pressure into genuine chances.

Instead, Lautaro Martinez left Tomori for dead on a Skriniar ball over the top and curled it in off the inside of the far post with the inside of the boot for 3-0.

Milan’s best chance came in stoppages, as Ante Rebic saw his cross-shot thump the top of the crossbar.

Milan 0-3 Inter

Dimarco 10 (I), Dzeko 20 (I), Lautaro Martinez 77 (I)

  1. Milan will need to wake up before the Spurs game.

Their abysmal record against epl sides over the last 15 years needs to change.

  2. do you really believe milan gonna win againts spurs? LOL, its gonna take 20 years for milan winning another UCL

  3. Milan are an absolute disaster area. They need reinforcements by the end of the month, otherwise the rest of the season is going to be a horror show.
