There are a few doubts for Carlo Ancelotti and Gian Piero Gasperini ahead of the UEFA Super Cup, with Real Madrid and Atalanta both tempted to go for risky, all-attack approaches.

It kicks off at the National Stadium in Warsaw on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

You can watch the game on TNT Sports in the UK or CBS Sports Network and Paramount Plus in the USA.

This is the clash between Champions League winners and Europa League holders, but if the scores are tied after 90 minutes, it goes straight to a penalty shoot-out without the need for extra time.

Atalanta are decimated by injuries to Gianluca Scamacca, Nicolò Zaniolo, Giorgio Scalvini and Rafael Toloi, plus Teun Koopmeiners is not even in the squad after a transfer dispute over his proposed move to Juventus.

Gasperini has very limited options to choose from, but he still might have a few aces up his sleeve.

The assumption is that he will use Mario Pasalic in support of Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman, as this would be the more solid approach to protect the midfield.

However, in training on Tuesday they were set out with a pure trident attack of De Ketelaere, Mateo Retegui and Lookman.

It would be a repeat of the approach that helped them upset the odds and beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the Europa League Final with a Lookman hat-trick, confirming that attack is the best form of defence for Atalanta.

Juan Musso should be chosen in goal, as he was the regular in the Europa League last season, with Marco Carnesecchi favoured in Serie A.

As for Real Madrid, they lost Eduardo Camavinga to a knee injury during the final training session today after a collision with Aurelien Tchouameni.

Despite shoulder problems and a tough EURO 2024, Jude Bellingham is still being tipped to start in midfield with either Federico Valverde or Luka Modric.

Kylian Mbappé is widely expected to make his Merengues debut in the starting XI with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, leaving Arda Guler on the bench.

Real Madrid vs. Atalanta probable line-ups

Real Madrid: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Ferland Mendy; Tchouaméni, Valverde/Modric, Bellingham; Rodygo, Mbappé, Vinicius

Atalanta: Musso; Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; Pasalic/Retegui; De Ketelaere, Lookman
