The Lega Serie A has confirmed that the Supercoppa Italiana between Juventus and Napoli will be played in Doha, Qatar on December 22.
This had long been rumoured to be the resolution between all parties, for the game delayed from late summer due to Juve and Napoli’s respective pre-season commitments, and the League has now confirmed it.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to export our Super Cup in an interesting and prestigious country like Qatar,” Maurizio Beretta has told reporters today.
The Serie A President was talking at a Press conference alongside organisers Aspire Zone President Khaled Al Sulaiteen and Qatar Football Association Vice-President Saoud Al Mohannadi.
This will be the seventh occasion that the Super Cup has been hosted abroad, following Washington in 1993, Tripoli, Libya in 2002, New York in 2003 and Beijing on three occasions – 2009, 2011 and 2012.
