The Sun claims that Juventus are prepared to pay nearly €18m to get Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill.

According to Friday’s edition of the British newspaper, the Bianconeri’s search for a Leonardo Bonucci replacement has taken them to Stamford Bridge.

No Italian media have mentioned Cahill as even an idea, let alone someone they would pay £16.5m to sign.

He is 31 years old and had a dismal start to this season, including a red card in the opening Premier League defeat to Burnley.

Instead, multiple Italian sources are confident Juventus have a deal in place for Schalke 04 defender Benedikt Howedes.

It’d be a loan for €2-3m with option to buy at the end of the season for a further €7-8m.
