The Armenian replaced Edin Dzeko as Roma’s main striker and Paulo Fonseca’s gamble paid off.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal star scored a hat-trick and helped Roma to a 3-1 win away at Genoa.
“He was like an alien,” writes Il Corriere dello Sport and gives him a solid 9 out of 10.
“He puts on a Dzeko mask and he scores his first three goals in Serie A this season (the fourth in four days).
“The last time he scored a hat-trick, he was playing for Shakhtar Donetsk. He dedicates his first goal to [Gigi] Proietti and he even hits the crossbar.”
Gigi Proietti was a popular Italian actor who died at 80 last week. He was born in Rome and was a key figure for the culture of Italy and especially in the capital.
Tuttosport rate Mkhitaryan 8: “Sumptuous game,” the Turin-based paper writes.
“Without Dzeko, he takes Roma by the hand leading the team to the victory.”
The rating of La Gazzetta dello Sport is 8,5: “Back to his glory days, he doesn’t only score goals, every dangerous Roma action pass through his feet.”
