Luis Suarez, as expected, has been named in Uruguay’s final 23-man World Cup squad today.

The 27-year-old forward underwent surgery in recently amid initial fears that he would miss the tournament in Brazil.

While these worries have since been all but averted, it remains a possibility that the Liverpool man will miss his team’s opening match or two.

He is included in Oscar Tabarez’s selection, alongside five players based in Italy – Juventus’ Martin Caceres, Walter Gargano of Parma, Bologna’s Diego Perez, Lazio’s Alvaro Gonzalez and Palermo forward Abel Hernandez.

Uruguay are in Group D of the World Cup, alongside England, Costa Rica and Cesare Prandelli’s Azzurri.
