Kevin Strootman could make a sensational return to Roma just 12 months after his €25m sale to Olympique Marseille.

The 29-year-old midfielder made it clear on several occasions that he’d been told to find a new club last summer, not being part of new director of sport Monchi or Coach Eusebio Di Francesco’s plans.

He was sold to Marseille in August 2018 for €25m, but struggled to settle in and contributed one goal with five assists in 34 competitive games.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Strootman could make a shock comeback at the Stadio Olimpico this month.

The Dutch international played 131 games for Roma, but lengthy injuries meant he was unable to perform to his best following the €17.5m purchase from PSV Eindhoven in 2013.
