The Giallorossi would advance to the group stage of the Champions League with a goalless draw at the Olimpico tonight, but the Dutchman says they won’t be setting out with that in mind.

“It will be an important and special game,” Strootman said in an interview with Premium Sport.

“It’s difficult to play for 0-0, we’re not a team who play with 11 defence, we’ll go out there to win and if it’s 0-0 after 60 or 70 minutes then obviously we’ll start thinking.

“The one important thing is to progress in the Champions League.”

Strootman was then asked if the Lupi will have to show more composure than they did in the first leg, which ended in a 1-1 draw after Thomas Vermaelen’s red card.

“Maybe so, but even there we played well. Certainly in the first half anyway, then the game changed after the red card.

“We must keep 11 on the pitch. If we do our work, with a full stadium, we can win this match which is very important for the team and the club.”
