Milan full-back Ivan Strinic reveals “I’ll start training again on Monday” after being diagnosed with cardiac hypertrophy.

The Croatian joined the Rossoneri in the summer, but after reaching the World Cup final with Croatia he started pre-season late.

He was then diagnosed with a heart condition and he has been on the sidelines ever since.

“What happened three months ago was like a bolt from the blue,” Strinic told 24Sata.

“The doctors told me I had to stop for three months to see if the hypertrophy would subside. That happened, so that means it was a sporting symptom and not disease.

“I always thought it would go well but you know how it is, I was under stress and I had doubts: ‘what if something goes wrong?’.

“I lived like that for a few months, I was impatient and nervous, but finally it’s over and it’ll all behind me. I’ll start training again on Monday.

“The objective is to come back as soon as possible, but I am aware that to be at my maximum physical strength and competitive form it’ll take a few months.

“I never thought about retirement in this period, especially after the World Cup which gave me new life.”
