Ivan Strinic’s agent warns the left-back is “not very happy with his position in the team” at Napoli.

The Croatian international joined the Partenopei in January, but made just nine Serie A appearances last term, and is yet to feature this season.

“I was in Naples and I met [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli to discuss the situation concerning Strinic,” Tonci Martic revealed in an interview with Radio Crc.

“The player is not very happy with his position in the team. He did well for Napoli when he arrived, but this year Strinic has yet to play.

“It’s true that he was injured during pre-season and he didn’t train with the team for two weeks, but now he’s in good condition.

“When Strinic arrived at Napoli on a free transfer, everyone said they’d pulled off a transfer coup, but just getting his wages isn’t enough for the player, he wants to be on the pitch.

“Since the start of the season, they’ve already played nine games and Strinic hasn’t featured for even a second.

“That said, there are still about 14 games to go in the first half of the season, so hopefully he can find some space.

“At the start of the season Napoli rejected offers for Strinic in the region of €8m, because the club needed the player in the squad, and they decided they didn’t want to sell him.

“In January it will be impossible to ask for €10m for a player who doesn’t play, so it’s normal that the price has dropped.

“I can understand not wanting to change a winning team, but if there’s no place for Strinic something will have to change.

“I’ll meet Giuntoli again in a month to discuss Strinic’s future, and if he doesn’t find space then I think it’s better to let him go.

“There are teams interested in my client at the moment, I don’t know about January.

“Strinic is fine at Napoli, he doesn’t have a problem with anyone. He’s a dedicated lad, but he’s not happy because he’s a sportsman and he wants to play.”
