Ivan Strinic flies in for his Napoli medical and Edy Reja tells fans they have got “a fantastic signing.”

The Croatia international wing-back will arrive tomorrow to undergo a medical and complete his transfer, as his contract with Ukrainian side Dnipro expires next week.

“If I had been in charge of a club, Strinic would be the first name I’d pick on the transfer market,” Reja told the Corriere dello Sport.

Ex-Lazio boss Reja has already worked with Strinic during his time at the helm of Hajduk Split.

“When I was at Napoli, I’d have done somersaults to sign a natural left-footer like him. He’s an excellent player, with good technique and physicality, but is more prone to attacking than defending.

“If he arrives at Napoli, it’ll be a great coup, a really intelligent and targeted buy. I knew him already and he can deliver both in a four-man defence and a five-man midfield.

“I asked Lazio to get Strinic, but he opted for Dnipro. I still followed his progress and must say he has matured over time, getting himself an important role in the Croatia squad.

“He is a winger capable of getting to the by-line and put in crosses. He’s good with the ball at his feet, valuable on the counter, but also strong on set pieces. We’re talking about an international level player.”
