Stramaccioni explains how Inter can trouble Man City in UCL final

Inter are clearly the underdogs in their Champions League final with Manchester City, but former coach Andrea Stramaccioni believes the club have a few ways of troubling the Premier League giants.

The Cityzens thoroughly outclassed Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, flying to a 4-0 loss after an incredibly dominant performance at the Etihad Stadium.

Inter will have been watching this game closely and will now have to prepare themselves for the decisive evening in Istanbul.

The Nerazzurri also looked strong in the Champions League semi-finals, securing a 3-0 aggregate win over rivals Milan, giving them a vital boost in confidence for the final on June 10.

Speaking to ANSA via TMW, Stramaccioni highlighted a few ways Inter could give themselves an edge in the Champions League final with Manchester City.

“City today are the best team in the world in terms of quality and organisation. But a final is a final, and gaps get smaller. I believe in it, and I believe in it a lot.

“I won’t say that City and Guardiola suffer, but they are ‘annoyed’ by three-man defences, as it is evident that, since the start of the rise that led to overtaking Arsenal, they have only lost twice and precisely against two teams that play with three at the back, Tottenham and Brentford.

“Plus, go and review Chelsea’s line-up in the 2021 final…”

Simone Inzaghi is known to be wedded to his 3-5-2 system and this is not expected to change in the final, a decision that could have important ramifications in Istanbul.
