Thomas Strakosha pinpoints the moment Lazio ‘really became aware of our capabilities’ this season and casts his fellow teammates as the Avengers.
The goalkeeper spoke to Lazio Style Radio about the campaign, which saw them sitting in second place just one point behind Serie A leaders Juventus, having won the Italian Supercup in December.

The goalkeeper spoke to Lazio Style Radio about the campaign, which saw them sitting in second place just one point behind Serie A leaders Juventus, having won the Italian Supercup in December.
“The turning point was the game against Atalanta in October at the Stadio Olimpico. We were losing 3-0 at half-time, but were able to complete the comeback to 3-3. That is when we really became aware of our capabilities.
“However, the game that meant the most to me in my Lazio career was two-and-a-half years ago at the Juventus Stadium, as Lazio hadn’t won in Turin for 15 years.”
Strakosha was decisive in that game, as he saved a late Paulo Dybala penalty to keep the Biancocelesti in front.
Now these two clubs are battling for the Scudetto with only one point separating them when the lockdown occurred.
“We are fired up and want to get back to work, but without putting anyone in danger. It won’t be fun playing without fans, but this is a difficult moment for people all over the world,” said the Albania international.
“The pause in this season will have consequences on form, but I am confident, because I know how strong we are. We’ve been together for four years, have grown so much on a technical and above all psychological level.
“Igli Tare and Simone Inzaghi have been fundamental for me, as the director believed in me from the start and the coach gave me the opportunity to play.”
Strakosha even took inspiration from a fan account and cast his Lazio teammates as the Avengers.
“Stefan Radu is the Hulk, Thor can be played by Francesco Acerbi, Captain America is Senad Lulic, let’s say Iron Man is Luis Alberto because he is so precise in everything he does, while Adam Marusic is Hawkeye. As for me, I’m Spiderman!”
