Ronaldo to Manchester City: live updates and what we know so far

The Portuguese star wants to leave Juventus, but Manchester City are not willing to pay a penny to take him from Turin, while the Serie A giants want at least €25m.

However, that’s not the only problem with finalising the deal as Manchester City also want to find a club for Sterling before signing Ronaldo.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the future of the English striker can determine the one of the 36-year-old.

A swap deal involving Ronaldo and Sterling is not an option mentioned by La Gazzetta dello Sport, but Barcelona have shown interest in the Manchester City winger, so if Sterling joins the Catalans, CR7 can move to City.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is expected to meet Juventus today. Meantime, the Portuguese ace regularly trained with the Bianconeri at Continassa this morning.

  1. This notion that Man City aren’t prepared to pay a penny as a transfer fee is utter nonsense. One moment they’re prepared to pay 150m euro for Kane, and next, they don’t want to pay for a player who is 1000 times better than Kane? Please stop circulating this nonsense. Man City can afford the salary and they can also afford the transfer fee. Of course Juventus won’t let go of a player they spent so much money to bring to the club. The guy was top scorer in serie a last season and joint top scorer in the Euro.

  2. Juve better hope that Man City pay up otherwise, its a no win situation for the club. Pay Ronaldo’s obscene wages for another year and he leaves for free at the end of the season.

On another note, that picture used of Sterling’s dive is brilliant FI!

  3. Can someone explain to me how Barcelona can afford to bring in Sterling??? How is this even a real scenario.

  4. Uh, I don’t think he’s diving here. Clearly he’s already celebrating the goal as the ball is past the goalkeeper and heading into the net. That’s the 1-1 goal in the Euro semi-final. And if it hadn’t gone in the goal it would have been a foul. It’s more than obvious if you watch the replays. I’m no Sterling fan by the way.
