Stellone thanks Frosinone fans

Roberto Stellone thanked Frosinone fans for their sportsmanship after relegation. “We go down with heads held high.”

The Canarini hit the woodwork twice at the Matusa, but were beaten by a late Matteo Politano goal for Sassuolo.

After the final whistle, the crowd chanted ‘Thank you lads’ as both Frosinone and Sassuolo players applauded the fans.

“I thank the fans, as they showed great affection towards this team,” Coach Stellone told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s rare to see scenes like this, in all the world as well as in Serie A. They were always close to us, even in the difficult moments.

“The supporters showed how attached they are to the club colours and in turn the players replicated that bond.

“We go down with our heads held high. I am proud of the lads and of the club.”

What does the relegation mean for Stellone’s future with Frosinone?

“I haven’t had time to think about the future. We have been decidedly unlucky in these final rounds of the season.”
