“We tried to stay afloat to the end, but recently some situations didn’t go our way and we dropped important points,” said the Coach.
“These lads gave their all and it was a lovely gesture for our fans to applaud us. It had never happened before in my career and frankly in Italy is extremely rare, but we’ve been able to create a special bond with the fans.
“On Saturday it will be a very important match for Napoli, less so for us, but we will honour the League to the end.”
A win would secure second place for Napoli, regardless of Roma’s result against Milan.
Only the top two go directly into the Champions League group phase, as third enters via a preliminary round.
