Inter assistant coach Cristian Stellini said he ‘followed the advice’ from suspended coach Antonio Conte in the 2-0 win over Fiorentina. ‘He’s our guide’.

The Nerazzurri had Stellini in the dugout for the comfortable win in Florence, as Nicolò Barella and Ivan Perisic secured the three points that saw Inter climb above Milan ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

“We don’t want to put pressure on anyone, just thinking about our own path,” Stellini told Sky Sport Italia. “It was not easy to play in Florence just three days after our last match.

“Games like these are always difficult, especially with two days of recovery. I’m satisfied, we created a lot of chances and our forwards worked well together.”

Conte watched the match from the stands, but the assistant revealed the bench followed his advice.

“When you watch the game from the outside, with his charisma, then it’s always difficult,” he said. “You suffer more from being on the outside.

“For us, his advice and his help is important. We gladly take any advice that he tells us. It’s not difficult at all, what he says are very important things because he is our guide and we must follow him.”

Stellini said Barella, who scored the opener, is 'developing' and could become a player like Conte.

“I wish so for him. He’s growing, just like Lautaro [Martinez] and other guys,” Stellini added. “The next step? A few more goals, even with the head.”

Perisic added the second and Stellini said the Croatian is an asset for the Beneamata.

“This year, he has sacrificed a lot in that role, but he’s now the protagonist from the middle of the pitch and down,” he said. “He’s a valuable played for the contribution he gives, we are satisfied with what he’s doing.

“We must never look back, but always ahead. He must do what’s asked of him, without regret.”
