Ajax boss Frank De Boer is unsurprised that Italian club Roma are interested in Maarten Stekelenburg.
The Giallorossi are looking for a new No 1, hence their efforts to sell Alexander Doni and Julio Sergio.
"If you look at his qualities, it is strange that he has not yet been bought by a European club," De Boer noted to the Dutch media.

"If you look at his qualities, it is strange that he has not yet been bought by a European club," De Boer noted to the Dutch media.
"It is strange that he is still with us. I know that Roma are the only team currently linked with Maarten and I know the ambitions of Maarten to move to a foreign side.
"He has one year left here and it's no secret that he wants to take the next step. Roma are a big club in Italy and I can imagine that he would want to talk to them."
The Dutch International is a successful graduate of the outfit's youth academy and has been the first choice in Amsterdam for the past five years.
The Giallorossi are prepared to pay up to €10m for the shot-stopper who could be available on a free transfer next summer.
