According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Sampdoria coach Roberto D’Aversa is on the brink and could be replaced by former Inter and Lazio midfielder Dejan Stankovic.
The Blucerchiati are hovering five points above the relegation zone with 15 points in just as many games.
Stankovic is currently under contract with Red Star, but according to the report, he can ask to terminate his agreement to return to Italy, where his family lives.
Stankovic had held talks with the Serie A side over the summer, but the two parties failed to reach an agreement.
Sampdoria hosts Lazio at Marassi at 17.00 UK time tomorrow. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, D’Aversa could be sacked if the Blucerchiati lose their ninth match in Serie A this season.
